Some Horror Insight a tale we all have to tell

I like getting scared. I like the creeping, crawling sensation of rising unease when I’m deeply engrossed in a good horror novel, and I love when my heart races during a particularly tense scene in a horror movie. I know it makes me a morbid sort of person, but there is something about scaring yourself that is thrilling.

The horror genre, among other things, invites us to consider humanity’s fears and anxieties. It’s about more than cheap thrills (though those are really fun!). Horror shows us the worst parts of humanity and the scariest aspects of our world. Horror isn’t afraid to take us where we might not otherwise go willingly. I believe that horror tells us a lot more about ourselves than we sometimes give them credit for.
